Manifestors & the importance of rejection
“The strategy is easy. It's simple, but it's courage.
You know, this is what I see that so deeply lacking in Manifestors, it's been punished out of them. They don't want to take another shot at being disappointed and being confronted with rejection. And this is the deepest theme for Manifestors. You know, the one thing that stands in the way of the average Manifestor asking permission or informing is the fear of rejection. And that every time that they're rejected, they get angrier and at some point, they don't want to deal with rejection anymore.
I had a great teacher. When I was in my 20s. I had a very unusual job. I used to get into an airplane on Monday mornings and fly to a city, some city anywhere in North America. And I worked for a giant newspaper chain that was all over North America. And I would go into various of their newspapers. And my job was to sit on the telephone and make 200 telephone calls a day for three days to get people to buy ads in a promotion of some kind. And I had my boss, an entrepreneur, very clever man. And he sat me down one day when he was training me. And he said to me, “you know, he said, if you make 200 calls, and you basically just read what's there, and you just go through it, you'll get 20 sales. And he said, if you're an absolutely incredible super salesman, and you make 200 calls, you'll get 20 sales.” And his point was, you simply do the work, you make the calls. But what he was really saying and what he was really teaching me is about the nature of rejection.
As a Manifestor, I had known all kinds of rejection, I had known all kinds of resistance. And it was one of the most difficult things that I've ever had to learn how to be able to have the, you know, 180 people a day, say no to me, and some of them not nice, I mean, really, no really hammered, you know, “don't bother us” and blah, blah, blah, and slamming down the phone and all of that stuff. But you know, I made the calls and I made an enormous amount of money. Then out of that, I learned something really incredible about the nature of rejection.
If you're a Manifestor, and you're correct, it doesn't mean everything you do is going to work perfectly. It's not about that. It's not about that, it is about the freedom inherent in being a Manifestor to go beyond rejection, so they can do what is correct for them, to do this is what it's all about, and you have to deal with rejection as a Manifestors. If you're afraid of being told no, then it's almost impossible to live a Manifestor life. And that's what I mean about courage.
And that's why I'm always concerned about Manifestor because the adult Manifestor has generally lost their courage. You know, young Manifestors have a chance, they really do, they have a chance, you know, they can go through the, you know, the polite stage and actually get to a point where they see the advantages of informing, and they learn how to use their power, and they get used to not being concerned about being told no. But for so many human beings, the potential of taking that responsibility and having to deal with rejection is something that they just walk away from.
I can't give anybody courage. I really can't. I wish I could, that would be very nice. What I can do is remind you that experimenting with your strategy, you will see that it makes life easier for you. Yes, it'll make you nervous. Yes, there are moments where you will doubt it's really worthwhile, that you have to initiate this or that but in the end, you'll get to see that only when you act correctly as a Manifestor, you get something special out of this life, which is about being at peace with yourself. And more than that, about being able to love who you are.
All my work all over the planet. All I need is self hatred. I meet people who don't like themselves. It's general most human beings don't like themselves want to be different want to be this want to be that, you know, most human beings think of their lives as basically failures, you know, and they put up with it and so forth. And so there's a tremendous amount of suffering in this life. There's no need for anyone to suffer. That suffering is the not self. It has nothing to do with who you really are. You've never really known what it is to live out a Manifestor’s life. So these strategies give you that chance to really discover your power and it's something very special.”
“Manifestors are here to know rejection. All other types are not here to know rejection. They're here to be the rejecters, they're here to respond and go yes or no, they're here to be invited and go yes or no, they're here to go through processes in which they're the ones that say yes or no, that's not true for Manifestors.
[…]
Because you see, it takes this enormous courage to be the initiator, because you got to deal with rejection. And if you don't have confidence in who you are, if you don't think that you're worthy, if you don't think that you're somebody who has the strength to be able to stand up to what other people think, or other people say, you never do it. And so you never live out the life of a Manifestor.”
